Murray & Roberts Power and Energy Projects invite suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Contracts Administrator for the Kusile Site reporting to the Commercial Manager. The project entails the building of 6 x 780 MW Coal Fired Super Critical Boiler for the coal fired Medupi Power Station to be erected at the Kusile Site at Witbank, Mpumalanga South Africa.

Minimum Requirements


  • Graduate with 3 to 8 years experience in Contract Administration;
  • Good understanding of FIDIC and contract law in general.


  • Law degree or other relevant commercial related degree (eg. Finance-, Quantity Surveying-, Construction-, Engineering, Procurement related degree)

Job Specification


To assist in the process of securing and maintaining Murray & Roberts Power and Energy’s rights and entitlements under the conditions of the main subcontract upon the Kusile Power Project.


  • Preparation of management reports regarding contractual issues and project risks;
  • Maintain the Project Correspondence Register by ensuring that all Client Correspondence are adequately responded to and letters are issued to Client regarding all project related contractual issues;
  • Advise management on legal and contractual issues pertaining to the project;
  • Execute forensic investigation of contractual issues;
  • Liaising with the Client/Subcontractors and the site team to identify and handle contractual and legal issues;
  • Assist the Commercial Manager to liaise with external legal advisors;
  • Draft contractual correspondence and notices;
  • Draft and negotiate conditions of contract / service level agreements with suppliers and subcontractors;
  • Maintain contractual entitlements and claims opportunities;
  • Draft and /or assess contractual claims and legal opinions
  • Maintain all commercial registers (eg. Risk register, Backcharge Register, Insurance Register etc.)
